Why Concrete Countertops?

Concrete is an ancient all natural product. It is practical, expressive, and aesthetic. Once you mix portland cement, sand and an endless array of aggregates you can create virtually a limitless variety of shapes and colors resulting in a solid mass. The possibilities for creative expression are endless. You can grind it, polish it, stamp it, or stain it.

The biggest advantage to concrete is that it can be completely customized to your personal desires. Rest assured that whatever you design
will be totally unique and one of a kind. This will be your own personal “Picasso”.

Concrete is Versatile

Few materials are as versatile as concrete. You can mold concrete into almost any shape, color it to match virtually any hue, and you can vary its texture. Its versatility lends itself to a full range of design styles from contemporary to classic.

Concrete countertops can be left in their natural state to complement materials like wood, stone, and brick. Conversely, concrete can be treated with chemical stains, coloring pigments, aggregates, and epoxy coatings. The end result is a look unattainable with any other countertop medium.

Concrete has a Distinct Look

Your concrete countertop has a distinct look. This is achieved by the singularity of each custom built mold and our casting techniques, along with our own proprietary materials and coloring methods. Because your counter is custom made, you become a part of the creative process.

Concrete entails Superior Craftsmanship

At concrete innovations inc. we are passionate about our work and take pride in achieving superior results. Our great care and attention to detail cannot be duplicated in mass-produced products. To assure that you are pleased with the final product, we may produce samples so that you can evaluate the color, texture, or finish.

Concrete has Natural Qualities

While products like corian are popular, many choose concrete because the look is natural. For many, concrete has more tactile appeal than granite, marble or ceramic tile.

Concrete offers Limitless Hues

One of the many benefits of concrete is the wide range of colors and hues available. Is it cobalt blue that you are after? Maybe a spicy pumpkin, deep eggplant, or rich jet black? Whatever your pleasure, at concrete innovations inc. we make every effort to accommodate you. We offer standard and premium colors for constructing the countertops incorporating various types of cements and aggregates. Our goal is to satisfy your color palate.

Concrete offers Details, Inserts, Special Shapes

Consider having a trivet cast into the countertop. Try steel, brass or copper. In addition, drain boards and soap dishes may be incorporated into the surface of your concrete countertops. Items of personal interest may be cast into the surface to individualize your countertop. These integral items not only contribute to the total design of your countertop and kitchen but
they are functional

FAQ's

How thick are concrete countertops?

At concrete innovations, our standard slab thickness is 1.5 inches. Two-inch slabs are usually made for vanities. It is possible to make a countertop appear thicker for aesthetic reasons. For example:  If a 6 inch slab is desired, the top will still be cast at 1.5 inches thick but the front reveal will be 6 inches.  This allows numerous looks yet controls the weight.

How much do concrete countertops weigh?

Our standard countertop of 1.5 inches thick, weighs about 18 pounds per square foot. Granite is approximately 18 pounds per square foot. Standard cabinetry will support the concrete slab as the weight of the countertop is distributed over a large area.

How should you care for your concrete countertops?

Care of your concrete countertop is similar to that of any countertop.

At concrete innovations we recommend the following:

• Do not cut on your concrete countertops. It will not hurt the concrete, but it may scratch the surface. Always use cutting boards when chopping and preparing foods.

• Use care when placing hot pans on concrete countertops. Concrete is heat resistant, but as with any countertop use a trivet.

• Avoid abrasive soaps or cleansers. Use a mild, non-abrasive, non-ammonia soap for daily cleaning. "Simple Green" (diluted as instructed) or any a neutral pH cleanser and warm water will work.  Do not use anything abrasive.

• Follow the maintenance instructions provided by concrete innovations.
